Core Responsibilities – Strategic Project Management: Overseeing the lifecycle of turnkey signal projects, from initial engineering and material procurement to final installation and "cut-overs" (putting the system in-service) Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all operations strictly adhere to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) standards, including mandated monthly, quarterly, and annual testing. Operational Safety: Managing "On-Track Safety" programs for crews and ensuring that all supervisors and laborers are FRA-qualified. Resource Allocation: Coordinating the deployment of specialized equipment—such as signal locators, relay slide testers, and hy-rail vehicles—across multiple project sites in Northern California and the Western U.S. Client & Stakeholder Relations: Serving as the primary point of contact for Class I railroads, regional short lines, and transit agencies to manage project timelines and emergency repair response

Core Executive Responsibilities – Strategic Business Leadership: Defining the long-term growth strategy for the company's transit and rail operations. This includes identifying new business pursuits and managing high-level relationships with Class I railroads, short lines, and government agencies. Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Overseeing the daily workflow of project managers and field crews to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This includes monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as labor efficiency, gross profit, and revenue growth. Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Acting as the ultimate authority on compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) regulations. You are responsible for ensuring all staff are trained and qualified for on-track safety. Financial Stewardship: Managing the company's P&L, conducting budget reviews, and overseeing procurement processes. This often involves negotiating contracts with third-party manufacturers and vendors to maximize margins. Talent & Culture Management: Leading the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of senior staff. You are responsible for fostering a culture of safety and professionalism that aligns with the specialized nature of railroad signaling.
