Location: Victoria, BC (YYJ Private Aviation Terminal)
Employment Type: Contract role for summer season
Reports To: Chief Pilot / Director of Operations
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused amphibious float plane pilot to join our team serving the Victoria and coastal British Columbia region. This is a seasaonal position based out of the YYJ private aviation terminal, offering the opportunity to fly in one of the most scenic and dynamic coastal environments in North America.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Safely operate amphibious float plane aircraft on scheduled and charter flights throughout coastal British Columbia and into the United States
· Conduct pre-flight inspections, flight planning, and post-flight documentation in accordance with Transport Canada regulations
· Provide excellent customer service to passengers while maintaining the highest safety standards
· Perform flights in various weather conditions typical of the Pacific coastal environment
· Navigate through complex coastal terrain, harbours, and challenging water landing sites
· Maintain current knowledge of all applicable regulations, company procedures, and operating manuals
· Communicate effectively with dispatchers, ground crew, and air traffic control
· Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Licensing:
· Minimum 1500 hours of a combined amphibious and coastal float plane experience (required)
· Valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License with appropriate ratings
· Current medical certificate (Category 1)
· Valid passport with ability to fly into the United States as a solo pilot
· Clean flight record with no incidents or accidents
Technical Skills:
· Demonstrated proficiency in water operations, including various sea states and conditions
· Experience with coastal navigation, mountain flying, and weather assessment
· Strong understanding of Transport Canada and FAA regulations
· Ability to operate amphibious float planes in challenging coastal environments
Location Requirements:
· Currently reside within one hour of YYJ private aviation terminal, OR
· Willing to relocate to the Greater Victoria area (Sidney, Saanich Peninsula, Victoria, Langford, Sooke, or surrounding communities within one hour drive)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 1,500+ hours total float plane time with amphibious
· Caravan and turbine aircraft time an asset
· Experience with multiple aircraft types common to coastal operations
· Previous charter or scheduled service experience
· Float plane instructor rating
· Familiarity with Pacific Northwest coastal waters and landing sites
· Experience with reserve pilot duties
