Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Captain within our Aviation department based in Houston, Texas.
A Captain, based on their specific responsibilities, can act as either the Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC), ensuring that flight operations are conducted with the highest standards of safety, passenger convenience, and cost-efficiency. When acting as Pilot Flying (PF), the captain is supported by the Co-captain, who takes on the role of Pilot Monitoring (PM) by overseeing cockpit activities and alerting them to any deviations from Company standard operating procedures or safe practices. In situations where the Captain functions as PIC, they retain ultimate authority over all aspects of the aircraft's operation.
Essential Job Duties:
Promotes the Occidental safety culture while providing the highest level of customer service
Conducts duties in compliance with all pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual and Certificate of Airworthiness requirements, Company policies and procedures, and standard aviation good operating procedures
Is discreet with sensitive or confidential company information
Represents Occidental with a neat, groomed appearance and positive attitude
Responsible for (but may delegate) all planning related to assigned flights including, but not limited to:
Learning the details of the flight schedule (time, itinerary, passengers, cargo, special requirements, etc.)
Checking meteorology including current and forecast weather for point of departure, departure alternate (if required), route of flight, destination, and arrival alternate (if required)
Calculating fuel required to safely complete the flight
Preparing and filing a flight plan
Coordinating (with the Flight Technician, if applicable) catering and commissary requirements
Calculating departure and landing weight and balance data to ensure operations will be within the AFM limits
Coordinating with maintenance to determine maintenance status of assigned aircraft
Ensures all aircraft equipment, documents, publications, and databases are available onboard and are current
Coordinates security requirements as required
Performs interior and exterior preflight inspections of aircraft to ensure airworthiness and service status
Conducts Pre and Post flight briefing with all crewmembers assigned to the flight
Maintains a high level of knowledge of the assigned type of aircraft (including systems and performance), regulations, operating procedures, navigation procedures, NOTAMS, and Company procedures and policies
Monitors and maintains the currency of his/her pilot certificates, SIC qualifications, FAA First Class Medical Certificate, and recurrent training requirements
Coordinates aircraft servicing at intermediate stops with the Flight Technician/Cabin Safety Attendant
Participation in department projects and ancillary duties assigned by the Department Manager
Participates in Occidental’s Performance Management System by establishing annual S.M.A.R.T. goals and personal development goals
Actively participate in the flights department’s Safety Management System
Remain in 100% compliance with all regulatory and OXY training programs
Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to work well in a team environment to promote inclusion

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
Reside in or be willing to relocate to Houston, Texas
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation flight operations
Valid Airline Transport Pilot Rating (ATP) with an EMB170 specific type rating
Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate, must be submitted prior to onboarding
English proficient
Restricted FCC Radio Telephone Operators Permit
Valid automobile driver’s license
Valid passport with no restrictions
Minimum 3000 hours total flight time
Minimum 500 hours as Pilot in Command
Minimum 500 hours as Pilot in Command of multiengine aircraft
Desired Qualification
FAA 14CFR Part 125 operational experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate aviation
