A rare opening exists for an experienced Lead Captain to join a premier single-aircraft Part 91 operation managed by one of Northern California’s most established aviation companies.
This position supports a private ownership group on a dedicated G550 used exclusively for business and personal travel. The Lead Captain will serve as the operational leader for the account, ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and professionalism.
This is not a typical management company role — it’s a dedicated, stable position flying for exceptional Principals who value discretion, professionalism, and operational excellence.
The Lead Captain serves as the cornerstone of the Principals’ aviation team, supported by a full-service management infrastructure, including a dedicated maintenance manager, flight coordinator, and flight attendant.
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will oversee all facets of the aircraft’s operation, ensuring every mission — domestic or international — is executed with precision, safety, and world-class service. You’ll also mentor and manage the flight crew, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Pilot-in-Command: Exercise full authority and responsibility for all flight operations.
Principal Liaison: Act as the primary operational contact for the Principals and their representatives, ensuring seamless communication and an exceptional travel experience.
Service Excellence: Uphold the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, and guest service on every mission.
Crew Leadership: Lead and develop the dedicated flight crew, manage schedules, and promote balanced work/life alignment.
Operational Coordination: Work closely with maintenance, scheduling, and operations teams to ensure reliability and compliance.
Company Integration: Leverage the full support of the management company to coordinate logistics, compliance, and resources as needed.
Type Rating: Gulfstream GV/G550 type rating strongly preferred. Comparable large-cabin Gulfstream experience considered.
Flight Experience:
3,500 hours total fixed wing
1,500 hours multi-engine land
1,500 hours PIC
1,500 hours turbojet
500 hours GV/G550 PIC preferred (other large-cabin jet time considered)
Certifications: FAA ATP Certificate, current FAA First-Class Medical, FCC Radio License.
Leadership & Professionalism: Proven leader with exceptional communication skills, discretion, and sound judgment.
Residence: Preferably within a two-hour commute of the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate. Commuter options may be considered.
Availability: Valid U.S. passport and ability to travel globally without restriction.
