An Assistant Chief Pilot is accountable for the professional standards of the fligh· instructors under his/her authority and operations and training safety manageme goals. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the professional pilot program, including but not limited to; Scheduling and dispatching of flights, review of Flight Risk Assessment Tools, administering performance reviews, assisting with the hiring of new flight crew, management of pilot staff, providing ground and flight lessons to students including stage checks.
Essential Duties Summary
Performing the duties of Instructor Pilot when necessary;
Assisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and qualification requirements for flight crews;
Maintaining records pertaining to pilot certifications and currency. In addition, ensuring periodic checks for accurate flight schedule pro entrie: by Flight Instructors
Work with the Maintenance and Safety Coordinator to ensure student safety at the airport. To include, office building and flight line;
Issuing directives and notices to flight instructors and safety coordinator as required;
Ensuring that all aircraft and routes served by the operator are operationally suitable and meet TSU flight requirements;
Coordinating with ATC facilities in regards to operating and flight plan requirements;
Following up on any accident, incident, and other occurrence reports;
Supervising contract flight instructors at Ellington Airport
Assuming any responsibilities delegated by the Chief Pilot or Executive Director of Aviation.

Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field to Aviation or Management required
Preferred:
Master’s degree preferred.
Required Licensing/Certification

Holds a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Holds a valid CFI, CFII and a MEI is preferred

Has no FAA Sanctions within the last five years; and
Learns and demonstrates knowledge of the content of the Flight Operations Manual, TCO, Employee Manual, Flight Schedule Pro, provisions of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
