[Company] is seeking an experienced, visionary, safety-focused, and dynamic Director of Flight Operations to lead one of the fastest-growing collegiate aviation programs in the Rocky Mountain region.

The Director of Flight Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the College’s FAA Part 141 flight training program, ensuring the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, instructional quality, and operational excellence.
Reporting directly to the Director of Aviation, this position provides leadership for all aspects of Flight Operations. The Director works collaboratively with the Director of Maintenance to ensure aircraft readiness, safety, operational efficiency, and to support the continued growth of the Aviation Program.
Position Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of Flight
Supervise and develop Flight Operations staff including the Chief Flight Instructor, Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, Lead Flight Coordinator, Flight Instructors, and Office Manager/Flight Dispatcher.
Recruit, hire, mentor, evaluate, and retain Flight Operations personnel while coordinating with the Chief Flight Instructor to recruit, interview, select, train, and develop highly qualified flight instructors.
Coordinate closely with the Director of Maintenance and aircraft maintenance personnel to maximize aircraft availability, maintenance planning, and regulatory
Oversee fleet utilization, scheduling, and operational
Collaborate with the Director of Aviation to support strategic growth of the Aviation
Lead continuous improvement of training procedures, scheduling, safety initiatives, and customer service.
Develop and administer annual operating
Lead long-range operational planning for fleet growth, hangar and ramp capacity, maintenance support, staffing, facilities, technology, capital equipment, and infrastructure required for sustainable program growth.
Develop short- and long-term operational plans supporting enrollment growth, fleet expansion, instructor staffing, maintenance capacity, and facilities
Support student recruitment, retention, graduate placement, industry partnerships, and collegiate flight team activities.
Promote a culture of professionalism, innovation, collaboration, accountability, customer service, and safety.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or
Qualifications, certificates, ratings, and experience necessary to oversee an FAA Part 141 collegiate flight training operation.
Progressive aviation leadership
Knowledge of FAA regulations, aviation safety, and flight training
Strong organizational, budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and leadership
Commitment to student success and helping grow [Company]’s Aviation Program into one of the premier collegiate aviation programs in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting growth of a collegiate or professional flight
Experience with aviation logistics, fleet expansion, hangar and ramp
Experience collaborating with maintenance departments and planning maintenance
Experience with aircraft acquisition, lease management, budgeting, and capital
Experience improving aircraft utilization, scheduling, and operational
Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and aviation
