Description
[redacted] is a VC-backed startup creating the world\'s first pilot-less airline. We\'re building an autonomous technology stack that performs full gate-to-gate missions including taxi\'ing, takeoffs, landings, and in-flight maneuvers. We plan to retrofit and operate fleets of self-flying aircraft to deliver cargo, starting with remote areas around the world. And in the future, we\'ll expand to cargo and passenger travel at large. Our mission is to help every human being improve their own life by making transportation accessible to everyone.
Since founding in late 2019, we have modified a two-seater airplane as our development testbed, conducting over 100 hours of flights. We have signed first customers representing $41M per year in future revenues. Our team has years of experience with piloting, developing long-range drones, and developing autonomous mobile robots—we\'re concentrating the world\'s best software, robotics, and aeronautical expertise to create the future of autonomous flight.
Position Overview
As a Test Pilot, you will collaborate with aeronautical and software engineers to:
Test and tune autopilot, sensors, and other technologies required for Level 4/5 autonomous aircraft
Analyze flight test results and propose design changes
Develop test plans for auto-taxi\'ing, takeoffs, in-flight maneuvers, landings, collision avoidance, and emergency scenarios
Work hard, support your teammates, have fun, and change the world!
Some of your key objectives in the first 12 months include:
Familiarize yourself with the ultralight aeroplane and onboard systems that you will be flight testing
Tune controller and navigation modules across all phases of flight (taxi, takeoff, enroute, landings)
Test various sensing and perception technologies including air-to-air radar, transponders, and laser/radar altimeter
Plan and execute collision avoidance tests in a safe fashion
Develop novel best practices for autonomous aircraft testing that will set the standard for the future of autonomous flight
Work with the team to conduct a series of fully autonomous missions
