Our Fleet
RFDS Queensland operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, including:
16 Beechcraft King Air B200s
4 King Air B350CHWs
5 King Air B360s

Our multidisciplinary teams provide critical care through emergency retrievals, primary health clinics, mental health services, mobile dental programs and virtual care solutions. Each year, our pilots fly thousands of taskings, connecting Queenslanders with critical healthcare and emergency retrieval services across some of Australia's most remote locations.
Our role
Located at our RFDS Rockhampton Base, you will support our Aeromedical team with emergency retrievals and interfacility transfers. This role is a permanent, full-time role working 14 shifts per 28 days. Our roster is a mix of both day and night shifts Monday to Sunday.
What You'll Do
As part of the Rockhampton team, you will:
Operate RFDS aircraft safely and in accordance with company procedures and aviation regulations
Prepare aircraft for flight, including refuelling and replenishment of oxygen supplies
Support healthcare teams with patient and equipment transfers
Assist with loading and unloading patients, stretchers and medical equipment
Complete operational and regulatory documentation
Maintain operational knowledge, systems and base records
Contribute to a strong safety and teamwork culture
About You
We're looking for capable, professional pilots who enjoy working as part of a team and are committed to supporting remote communities.
You will hold:
Current Instrument Rating- Multi Engine Aircraft with four or more renewals
Current Australian ATPL / CPL
Current Class 1 Aviation Medical
4000 hours flying time in total
2500 hours as Pilot in Command
2000 hours as Pilot in Command of Multi-engine aircraft
200 hours as Pilot in Command at night
200 hours instrument time
Turbine experience
Recent single-pilot flying experience within the last 2 to 5 years (highly desirable)
Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights
You will also have:
Strong situational awareness and decision-making skills
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Physical capacity to assist with patient and equipment handling when required
The ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
