CHIEF PILOT
Directly Reports To: Director of Operations
Mission of this Position:Responsible for the planning and oversight of all flight crewmembers, while adhering to all FAA and other pertinent regulations, to provide a safe, on-time flights while treating guests and team members with excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Corporate:
Drive positive pilot culture / morale by leading by example
Develop a pilot culture of strict procedural compliance, checklist adherence, and debrief methodologies
Lead internal communication efforts (i.e., disseminate information to pilot group)
Proactively maintain a crew schedule in accordance with company policy (e.g., days, locations, etc.)
Direct and execute Company Policies and Procedures
Formulate and establish department SOPs and ensures adherence
Be accountable for applicable data integrity and metrics
Assist with recruitment and managing pilot staffing levels
Coordinate with training department regarding recurrent training, new hires, ground training, simulator sessions, aircraft training and check rides
Compliance:
Responsible for the record keeping requirements of 135.63
Maintains Database of aircraft documents for GOM Compliance
Ensure and Maintain aircrews’ currency, training, and qualifications. Ensure they are appropriately licensed/rated and have a current medical to conduct flights under 14 CFR Part 135, and approved to conduct the assigned operations for [Company], LLC (135.63(a)(4))
Maintain Pilot folders containing resume, copies of the pilot's airman certificates, medical certificate, currency records, and training history.
Ensure currency of aircraft checklists
Disseminate information to all crew members as pertains to routes, airports, NOTAMS, navaids and [Company], LLC's policies. Will maintain and make available to all employees a current copy of the Aeronautical Information Manual, 14 CFR Parts 61, 91, 119 and 135
Submit to the FAA all reports required, pertaining to flight crews
Designates sufficient check pilots to ensure all flight crews conform to standard procedures as outlined in applicable FAA Regulations and Company policies, and to ensure that all pilots maintain current route qualifications and receive proficiency checks as required by the FAA and [Company], LLC
Maintains proficiency as a Pilot-in-Command (per 14 CFR Part §119.71(c)).
Is responsible for flight locating IAW Section L of this GOM.
The Chief Pilot may delegate functions to other qualified personnel, but retains responsibility for his/her specific duties, responsibilities and authority.
Essential Skill Set:The Chief Pilot must be qualified through training, experience, and expertise in accordance with 119.69(d).
Highly knowledgeable of the General Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, flight manuals, etc., and other instructions pertinent to his duties
Must be qualified for operations conducted under 14 CFR Part 135
Must discharge his/her duties to meet legal requirements and maintain safe operation
