About the Opportunity
[Company] is seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Operations to join our flight department based in Fort Worth, Texas. This role is ideal for a candidate who values professionalism, precision, and takes pride in delivering a seamless, safe, and exceptional travel experience.
The Director of Operations (DO) is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient conduct of all flight operations under FAR Part 135. This role provides strategic leadership while maintaining hands-on operational oversight. The DO works closely with the Chief Pilot, Director of Maintenance, and executive leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary authority for all flight operations conducted under FAR Part 135
Maintain full compliance with FAA regulations, OpSpecs, GOM, and company manuals
Exercise operational control over all Part 135 flights
Oversee and continuously improve standard operating procedures and operational policies
Coordinate with the Chief Pilot on crew training, qualifications, scheduling, and standardization
Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance to ensure aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness
Act as primary liaison with the FAA, including POI interactions, audits, inspections, and approvals
Lead safety initiatives and support the company Safety Management System (SMS)
Support fleet growth, operational scaling, and introduction of new aircraft or missions
Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development as required
Required Qualifications
Meets FAA requirements for Director of Operations under FAR 119 and 135
Extensive Part 135 operational experience
Strong working knowledge of FARs, OpSpecs, and operational control systems
Proven leadership experience managing flight operations and personnel
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with executive leadership
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Director of Operations or Chief Pilot experience in a Part 135 environment
Turbine aircraft experience; business aviation background strongly preferred
Experience with SMS implementation and oversight
FAA management experience during certificate growth or fleet expansion
