Test & Evaluation Safety Manager in GAC Savannah Unique Skills: Familiar and experienced with organizational aviation operations, scheduling and aircrew training and proficiency tracking. Experience with both flight and lab test environments and requirements. Prior experience serving in an Aviation Safety Officer capacity. Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of accredited Test Pilot School preferred. Graduate of recognized aviation safety school or accredited institution. Aviation Safety degree program preferred. Familiarity with Safety Management Systems and 10 years aviation background with 3 years of flight test experience. Previous safety oversight position required. Position Purpose: Act as principle and independent safety manager for aviation test and evaluation activities. Facilitate and mature the safety management system for flight test, and act as principle advisor to Director, Flight Test to sustain a vibrant SMS which reduces risk as low as reasonably practicable. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: 1. Act as full-time safety representative/oversight provider for all [redacted] aviation T&E activities 2. Manage and mature the Safety Management System within the T&E organization 3. Conduct periodic self-assessments and audits to ensure SMS compliance and vibrancy 4. Promote and sustain a positive safety culture as directed by company SMS policy 5. Train and educate T&E workforce on SMS, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation identification/mitigation 6. Facilitate seamless communication within flight test organization and Aviation Safety Office 7. Participate in SMS investigations, as well as aircraft incident and accident investigations Additional Functions: 1. Develop and refine metrics to assess health of SMS 2. Participate in review boards, self assessments and audits as an independent safety advocate 3. Represent [redacted] at conferences, symposia, and on safety committees 4. Discover and research new technologies and methods to enhance safety Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: 1. Bachelor degree in technical discipline highly desired. 2.
