The Director of Maintenance is responsible for all maintenance activities as related to company operated aircraft, maintenance personnel, and the financial aspects of such operations. The DOM will work closely with the Director of Operations and Chief Inspector to ensure a quality control program is utilized and achieved.
Essential Job Functions
• Ensuring safe maintenance and line operations.
• Supervising JLI maintenance personnel.
• Ensuring the quality of aircraft, engine and avionics maintenance and repair.
• Assisting with development of department policies.
• Assisting with preparation of short and long range plans.
• Assisting with preparation of the annual operating budget.
• Assisting with establishment of compensation structures.
• Assisting with establishment of minimum employment qualifications.
• Assisting assigned personnel to realize their full potential.
• Assisting with establishment of performance appraisal procedures.
• Establishing schedules for periodic inspections, general overhaul, repairs and modification.
• Establishing maintenance safety rules and procedures.
• Establishing spares and ground support equipment inventories.
• Ensuring that department personnel are thoroughly familiar with company policies, appropriate
FARs, pertinent manuals, practices and publications.
• Establishing programs for maintenance technician proficiency training, revises and upgrades, in
accordance with FAA and company requirements.
• Helping monitor security and environmental affairs, including completing material safety data
sheets on all chemical, fire drills and safety training.
• Helping coordinate activities of the maintenance department with flight operations.
• Helping ensure that maintenance and flight crew personnel understand the company’s objective
and each other’s needs.
• Directing compliance of minimum equipment list (MEL) maintenance procedure.
• Responsible for ensuring overall compliance with procedures and policies contained in the
General Maintenance Manual (GMM), along with updating GMM procedures and policies when
necessary.
• Ensures that all required inspections and maintenance are conducted in accordance with the
AAIP and/or manufacturer’s maintenance manual / program, as outlined in the Operations
Specifications.
• Ensures that all maintenance personnel are properly trained and that Mechanical Reliability
Reports required by FAR Part 135.415 and the Mechanical Interruption Summary required by FAR
Part 135.417 are completed when required.
• May delegate duties to the Assistant Director of Maintenance (if applicable), but retains
responsibility at all times.
• Works closely with the Maintenance Controller in coordinating both scheduled and unscheduled
maintenance on all company aircraft.
• Supervises aircraft detailing services.
• Managing existing and ongoing employee training while maintaining current records that verify
individual participation.
• Works closely with JetMX to insure that all maintenance is scheduled as far in advance as is
possible, and that all work is done in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Responsible for JLI Vendor audits and maintaining an Approved Vendor List (AVL).
• Responsible for the JLI Fuel Quality Program.
• Works with the maintenance representative for the Civil Air Review Board (CARB) to insure all JLI
maintenance activites meet or exceed the CARB standards for maintenance.
Requirements
• Possess a current FAA issued Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
• Meet the experience requirements of 14 CFR 119.71 (e).
• The ability to demonstrate the knowledge of the planning, implementation and direction of the
maintenance programs and control system for the aircraft operated.
• The ability to demonstrate the the knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations and standards
relating to aircraft maintenance required by such.
• Excellent customer service skills using tact and professionalism appropriate requiring good oral
and written communication skills.
• Flexibility in a rapidly changing organization.
• Excellent PC skills and proficiency; knowledge of Jet Insight and Flightdocs.
