The Instructional Systems Designer II (ISD II), Inflight designs and develops instructional content, including lesson plans, presentation materials, guides, handouts, job aids, and other training materials, for Flight Attendants at [Company]. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight produces high quality regulatory and non-regulatory training programs. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight partners with Inflight Training Delivery, Safety & Compliance, Policy & Procedures and learning community stakeholders to ensure training is compliant with current regulations while looking for ways to create engaging and innovative instruction. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight is a Learning Management System (LMS) administrator responsible for managing and maintaining online course offerings, managing Inflight user groups, and providing periodic reports to Inflight and corporate leadership.
Applies instructional design methods and best practices to define course requirements and create instructor-led and interactive course content.
Develops learning objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, and courseware (including CBT, multimedia, and job aides) that complies with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and [Company] policy.
Ensures that all training programs conform with 14 CFR Part 121 air carrier operations, approved training programs, and inflight operations.
Works with Subject Matter Experts to develop or revise curriculum based on FAA Advisory Circulars, applicable regulatory guidance, and Flight Attendant certification processes.
Coordinates with Inflight Leadership, subject matter experts, other divisions within [Company], outside agencies (FAA/TSA), and vendors as required.
Writes and maintains technical procedures, documentation, and job aids.
Performs editing and quality assurance reviews of training materials.
Maintains and makes recommendations to improve the LMS (Cornerstone) and associated training programs for AS Inflight division.
Periodically creates courses, updates courses, assigns courses, and modifies student records in the LMS
Creates reports from data in the LMS to assist in tracking learner progress and other metrics.
Provides technical support to Flight Attendants, instructors, and supervisors for both training content and technology questions.
Focuses on continuous improvement of training methodologies and learning technologies and recommends changes as applicable.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required
2 years of experience in technical writing or instructional design.
A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, Business Communications, or related field or 2 years of additional work experience in lieu of degree.
Solid understanding of instructional design and performance improvement best practices.
Experience developing courseware to current industry and adult learning standards, including experiential learning, eLearning, social learning, and micro-learning.
Ability to communicate in an engaging and motivating manner with Inflight leadership and other key stakeholders.
Ability to complete Flight Attendant Initial Training to become certified as a front-line Flight Attendant.
Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, team leadership, customer facilitation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think originally and creatively and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 21.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
A minimum of 2 years of Flight Attendant experience.
Experience in one of the following authoring tools: Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
Multi-media development experience using Adobe Creative Suite applications (audio, video, graphics, and/or animation).

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
