Join our team at Boston Scientific as we search for a dedicated International Captain to enhance our flight operations.
International Captains play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of assigned flights. Directly reporting to the Chief Pilot, they wield final authority as Pilot in Command (PIC) over aircraft operations. Our Captains are entrusted with upholding compliance with a myriad of regulations, encompassing federal, state, local, and international mandates, along with adherence to meticulously outlined company policies and procedures. Serving as the primary face of our company to passengers, they embody professionalism, tact, and decorum while prioritizing the efficiency and safety of every operation. Candidates can anticipate embracing additional aviation-related responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
Applicants for this position should reside within a one-hour driving distance from Bedford Hanscom Airport (KBED).
Your responsibilities will include:
Acts as Pilot in Command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled.
Maintains proper certifications and qualifications according to government and company regulations.
Provides excellent customer service to passengers.
Complies with schedules, and other directives governing the aircraft's operation.
Ensures that preflight inspections are performed.
Studies weather conditions at the destination, en route, alternate airports, and departure points.
Prepares flight plans.
Ensures that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.
Supervises loading of passengers, baggage, and freight; determines that aircraft performance data and weight and balance are within certifiable limits.
Supervises the second in command in any duties necessary for the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft.
Coordinates the functioning of all crew members assigned to the flight.
Monitors crew performance, sharing knowledge with crew members and evaluating crew member potential for advancement.
Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, cancel, and/or deviate flights from the planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
Ensures servicing, storing, proper care, and protection of Company aircraft and equipment while away from home base; orders and signs for fees and services contracted; conducts post-flight inspection of aircraft; and reports malfunctions and operating data to the maintenance team.
Completes and files FAA/Company records and reports; completes aircraft and flight reports; and maintains personal flight log and records.
Participates proactively in the Aviation Safety Management System.
Proactively maintains knowledge of the FOM, IFOM, SOPs, Training Manuals, and applicable CFRs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Citizenship or Legal Right to Work: Candidates must be either United States citizens or possess the legal right to work in the U.S., including the ability to travel internationally without restrictions. A valid passport is required.
Valid Unrestricted Automobile Driver’s License: All candidates must possess a valid, unrestricted automobile driver’s license.
Exceptional Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Candidates should demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
English Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required for this position.
Ability to Travel: Candidates must be able to travel up to 100% as necessary for the role.
Global Experience: Experience conducting International Flight Operations worldwide, include to LATAM and EMEA regions.
Required Certificates, Ratings, and Permits:
FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
Valid FCC Restricted Radio Telephone Operator Permit
Valid First Class Medical Certificate
Flight Time: Flight time should be commensurate with other qualifications Logbooks may be requested as part of the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in aviation experience.
Familiarity, or proficiency, with Bombardier ARINC, ForeFlight, Jeppesen products, and CAMP.
Experience working in a corporate aviation flight department.
CL-604, CL-605, or CL-650 Type Rating. Alternatively, experience in large cabin aircraft will be considered.
