About the Role
We are seeking a Safety Manager to lead and maintain our Safety Management System (SMS) for helicopter operations. This is a fixed-term opportunity (to cover Maternity leave) to make a real impact on aviation safety, ensuring compliance with UK CAA and ICAO standards while promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management System (SMS):
- Administer, and maintain the SMS in accordance with UK CAA and ICAO requirements.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and produce regular safety reports for senior management.
- Embed hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation processes into operational activities.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with UK CAA and company safety regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies during audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation safety legislation and best practices.
Incident & Accident Investigation:
- Lead investigations into operational safety occurrences, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of all safety reports and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Deliver safety training and awareness programs for flight crew and ground staff.
- Promote a Just Culture and encourage voluntary safety reporting.
Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate safety drills and ensure readiness for crisis situations.
Management of Change:
- Develop and maintain MOC procedures.
- Coordinate MOCs and ensure all risks are identified and mitigated as reasonably as practicable.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as the focal point for safety-related matters across all departments.
- Work closely with Flight Operations and CAMO teams to integrate safety into all activities.
