Purpose:
To ensure the quality and effectiveness of flight training, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Reports to the Director of Operations (DO) and is responsible for oversight and compliance of Part 121 and Part 135 pilot training and qualification
Responsible for maintaining a ground and flight training program for Part 135 and Part 121 crew members which meets or exceeds FAA and Company requirements
Responsible for the maintenance, revision, and regulatory compliance of the Flight Operations Training Manual
Holds membership on Safety Review Board and provides technical expertise
Responsible for oversight, compliance, and monitoring the process and quality of flight crewmember training and qualification
Responsible for oversight and compliance of Part 142 contract training centers
Maintains training record system in compliance with federal regulations
May be qualified under Part 135 or Part 121 but is not required to do so
May hold company instructor or check pilot authority but is not required to do so
Communicates training, checking, and qualification results to the Chief Pilot (CP) and DO
Schedule and conduct required audits for the Training Department
Maintain a good working relationship with customer and attend customer sponsored training events
Approves or rejects payment for all contract training provider invoices
Hire and maintain a highly trained Flight Training Department staff that meets the needs of the flight department
Serves as a technical resource for Part 121 and Part 135 aircraft and operations
Ensures standardization of Part 121 and Part 135 instructors
Responsible for advanced simulator qualification program
Responsible for tracking and improving upon overall departmental KPIs
Provide oversight of department employees and track established goals and areas of improvement
Maintain a good working relationship with regulatory agencies including the FAA and TSA, and provide records and information as required per regulation
Launch special projects to improve upon the training process and efficiency of the Company
Help develop and work within departmental budgets
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Holds an Airline Pilot Certificate with a type rating in one aircraft (preferred in aircraft operated by MAC). College degree required, may substitute industry or military experience.
Has previous administrative/management experience and is proficient with MS Office and Adobe.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work typically performed in an office environment.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional travel is required.
