Position Summary
This established single-aircraft, Part 91 operation is seeking a lead Captain to fly and oversee its existing small team. The client appreciates safety, privacy, and customer service.
As Pilot-in-Command, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of the flight assignment with the emphasis on safety, security, and quality. You will exercise pilot in command authority of all flights to which you are assigned and are the final authority for the safe conduct of the mission.
As the Lead Captain, you will oversee a small team and act as the liaison between the Client’s office and both the aircraft management company and the aircraft manufacturer. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: reviewing and approving team and aircraft expenses, reviewing monthly management statements, creating an aircraft budget and paying bills, managing aircraft accounts and vendors, managing team training and time off, planning aircraft missions, and collecting & analyzing aircraft data.
The Client is looking for a personable, reliable, and self-motivated professional who is excited about working a dynamic schedule. The aircraft will fly approximately 350 hours each year, equally split between domestic and international travel. This is a two-pilot team with a budget for contract support.
The aircraft is located in Southern California and applicants must live in the area (or be willing to relocate). Compensation and benefits are well above the regional average.
Minimum Requirements
Reside in (or willing to relocate to) Southern California
Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a long-range jet Type Rating
Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical
5000 hours Total Fixed Wing
1500 hours Multi-Engine Land
3000 hours Pilot-in-Command
2000 hours Jet aircraft
100 hours Night
75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument
5 years of private aviation experience (must include international experience)
Must be able to work flexible schedules
Willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions
Must have a valid Driver's License
Valid Passport with no restrictions
No FAA violations
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education degree or certification (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master’s, NBAA CAM, etc.)
Gulfstream 650 Type Rating with recent and practical experience
Current international experience
Previous Chief Pilot, Lead Captain, or Aviation Manager experience
Ability to handle the job responsibilities with integrity, discretion, and sensitivity to confidential company and employee information
Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both in written and verbal formats
Possess a team effort approach with great interpersonal skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to be proactive, efficient with the ability to seek out answers and resources as needed
Strong project management experience
Has a pleasant, friendly, and helpful manner to deliver the best experience to customers and colleagues
