[Company] has an exciting opportunity for a Testbed and UAS Chief Pilot - Senior Manager to join our team in Berkeley, MO (St Louis, MO surrounding area). [Company]’s Testbed Operation includes a fleet of twin-engine turbo-prop and business jet aircraft that are uniquely modified to develop new technologies for [Company] Defense, Space and Security (BDS) programs within Air Dominance, Phantom Works, and many others.
The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to lead aircrew who operate the highly modified multi-crew aircraft for the purpose of Research and Development and lead a growing group of Air Vehicle Operators for the MQ-25 and MQ-28 programs.
A successful candidate will have experience in Testbed and UAS operations, including assisting Flight Test Engineering in the design and planning of flight test profiles, conducting engineering assessments for potential testbed projects, and coordinating, planning and executing ground and flight tests using standardized techniques to meet safety requirements and test objectives.
Duties also include collaborating with program managers on marketing, evaluation and demonstration activities and ensuring flight activities comply with regulatory standards and Company policies.
This position requires an FAA ATP or Commercial certificate with the appropriate endorsements, as well as proof of an FAA Second Class Medical certificate and appropriate FAA Airmen certificate prior to starting in this position.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and evaluate Testbed and UAS aircrew
Manage, plan, and conduct engineering and experimental test flights
Serve as Pilot-In-Command for Testbed aircraft
Evaluate aircraft for configuration performance and handling qualities changes
Facilitate the [Company] Safety Management System, including test safety processes
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing and airworthiness personnel on certification efforts to ensure design integrity
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
Commercial Certificate or FAA ATP with appropriate endorsements or military equivalent
Ability to obtain an FAA First Class Medical certificate
1,000 flight hours as Pilot in Command of turbine powered aircraft or FAA type rating of a turbine powered aircraft without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation
Capable of traveling up to 30% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Test Pilot School (TPS) Graduate
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Science or Engineering
Experimental flight test experience in special mission or testbed aircraft
FAA type rating in Beechcraft King Air, 757/767, Bombardier Challenger 650/Global Vision, or similar sized business aircraft
UAS operator experience
