We are seeking a full-time Flight Test Pilot 5 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for serving as an expert technical resource and leader in flight testing and aircraft certification focused on achieving [Company]’s aviation long range product development objectives.
Essential Functions
Manage research and/or lead flight test and/or product development projects that involve extensive complexity and breadth where precedents are lacking
Provide direction/influence to engineering management for long range product development objectives
Possess/share high level flight testing and/or aircraft certification knowledge with team members and management
Develop inventions and/or new designs or techniques regarded as significant advances in technical community
Research emerging technologies to develop and compile information which extends the existing boundaries of knowledge in a given field or fields
Uncover/resolve problems associated with development and implementation of existing products/programs
Effectively represent [Company] among industry partners, peer groups and regulating agencies as required
Determine program objectives/requirements, organize programs and projects, and develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities
Mentor less experienced flight test pilots and serve as an expert resource to all product development teams and participate in recruiting activities as assigned
Exhibit an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness
Basic Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 18 years relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 20 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Possesses a unique blend of technical, business and project skills that enables vision and ownership of a given technology
Commercial Pilot Certificate
2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate
Flight Test Pilot DER or ODA Unit Member Qualification
Minimum 2,500 hours total flight time
Extensive avionics flight test experience
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates a successful track record in managing exceedingly complex problems and providing successful solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
