Job Summary:
Plans, organizes and directs all aspects of the flight operations, including assisting in the development and/or administration of policies, department goals and objectives. Together with the Chief Pilot, directs and coordinates program efforts toward the safest, most practical, efficient and profitable performance of the Company’s flights and related activities
Job Responsibilities:
· Ensures that all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Operations Specifications and Company policies.
· Development of improved flight operations, policies, practices, and procedures.
· Shares the authority with the Chief Pilot to act for the company r, including the signing of FAA correspondence and Operations Specifications.
· Communicates with the FAA Flight Standards District Office and the National Transportation Safety Board. Files all required reports and documents, and is responsible for all record keeping requirements and proper maintenance and disposition of records.
· Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance the timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies.
· Determines staffing levels, and along with the Vice President and Chief Pilot, hires and fires flight personnel.
· Oversees, or delegates, but is ultimately responsible for operation control of the flight line.
· May perform duties as a flight crewmember when properly qualified in the aircraft.
· Other related work, responsibilities, and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (KSA’s):
· Must hold an airline transport pilot certificate, meeting the requirements of F.A.R. 119.71, and either:
1) Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under part 121 or part 135;
2) in the case of a person becoming Director of Operations for the first time, have at least 3 years’ experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter. OR, in the case of a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years’ experience, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135.
