Job Summary
This position supports the coordination of all university interactions with the Federal Aviation Administration through the Chief Pilot and serves as a backup to the Chief Pilot when needed. The role is also responsible for maintaining all required FAA records and documentation.
As an instructor, this position teaches courses and serves as the instructor of record for multiple flight-related classes each term. While flight instruction is provided by Skyline Aviation, responsibilities include managing associated coursework for three to four flight courses per semester and tracking student flight hours.
Essential Duties
Deliver high-quality courses in the flight operations track within the commercial aviation program; uphold safety and professionalism across all training environments.
Act as instructor of record for flight classes (actual flight instruction is handled by the university’s flight school partner).
Create and maintain a system for accurately tracking student flight hours across all classes.
Assist the chief pilot with coordination and communications with the FAA for compliance, approvals, audits, and program oversight.
Support student recruitment and represent the Commercial Aviation programs at events and outreach activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated expertise in commercial aviation education.
In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations.
Strong teaching skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills; capable of serving as a trusted point of contact with the FAA.

Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of aviation experience.
FAA ratings: Commercial Pilot, Instrument rating, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), and Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII).
Master’s degree in aviation-related field
Preferred Qualifications
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
Physical Requirements
Must hold at least a second class medical certificate.
