Summary of Essential Duties
The Simulator Check Airman / Instructor supports the ERJ training program by conducting simulator-based training and evaluations to ensure flightcrew members meet and maintain required competency standards before returning to line service. This role is a key driver of standardization and professional development within the pilot group, ensuring training and checking are conducted consistently and professionally in accordance with Part 135 requirements and Company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct simulator-based training and checking events in accordance with the approved Part 135 Pilot Training Program (PTP), Company SOPs, and completion standards
Ensure crewmembers meet competency standards prior to being released from training and maintain standards while in line service
Evaluate performance objectively, document results accurately, and ensure corrective action and retraining are accomplished when required
Drive standardization through consistent procedures, techniques, and completion standards
Maintain working knowledge of applicable Part 135 requirements and FAA guidance relevant to training, testing, and checking
Model professionalism, SOP discipline, CRM, and safety culture in all training and checking events
Coordinate with Training, Flight Standards, Safety, and Scheduling to support program execution and standardization initiatives
Support continuous improvement of lesson objectives, grading sheets, scenario design (including LOFT validation as assigned), and courseware alignment
Maintain required instructor/check airman authorizations and currency in accordance with Company program requirements
Be at least 23 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Be authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Must understand, read, and write English.

Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
Must have experience and be highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, and related software. Rockwell Collins FOS or similar crew scheduling software familiarity preferred.
Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
ERJ-145/135 type-rated PIC with significant Part 135 experience
ATP certificate
Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and evaluate pilot performance to a consistent standard
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
Prior simulator instructor and/or check airman experience
Line check experience
Leadership/mentorship and/or training program development experience
