Supervise, plan and coordinate activities within the Operations Division of the Aviation Department; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Associate Director, Aviation Operations.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, or aviation administration; and
Seven (7) years of managerial airport operations experience; and
To include four (4) years of supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's license, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Operational characteristics, services and activities of a comprehensive airfield operations program
Modern and complex principles and practices of airfield management
Aircraft operating performance and aircraft identification
Modern office equipment including computers
Software/hardware within assigned area
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
Principles of municipal budget preparation and control
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower level staff
Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
Analyze and assess programs policies and operation needs and make appropriate adjustments
Analyze problems, identify alternative solution, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
Interpret and explain City aviation policies and procedures
Prepare clear and concise reports
Communicate clearly and concisely
