Gulfstream GV Pilot-in-Command (PIC)

Summary
The Gulfstream GV Pilot-in-Command (PIC) is responsible for the safe, legal, and efficient operation of the aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, and manufacturer guidance. The PIC exercises final authority over all aspects of flight operations and is accountable for passenger safety, crew performance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Core Responsibilities
1. Flight Operations
Serve as Pilot-in-Command under applicable regulations (Part 91 / 135)
Maintain final authority for aircraft operation and safety
Conduct pre-flight planning including:
Weather analysis
NOTAM review
Fuel planning (international/oceanic as applicable)
Weight & balance
Performance calculations
Ensure adherence to RVSM, MNPS/NAT HLA, and international procedures when applicable
Oversee crew briefings and cockpit resource management (CRM)
Maintain compliance with company SOPs and Gulfstream AFM limitations
2. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with:
FAA regulations
ICAO procedures
Company GOM / FOM
Maintain currency and qualifications
Participate in:
Recurrent training (typically every 6β12 months)
Simulator evaluations
Safety meetings
Report safety concerns through SMS (Safety Management System)
3. Leadership & Crew Management
Lead assigned Second-in-Command (SIC)
Foster strong cockpit discipline and CRM culture
Mentor developing copilots
Ensure professionalism in passenger interactions
4. Passenger & Owner Relations
Deliver exceptional executive-level service
Maintain discretion and confidentiality
Coordinate with:
Flight operations
Maintenance
Scheduling
FBOs
Ensure aircraft presentation meets corporate standards
Minimum Qualifications
ATP Certificate
Gulfstream GV Type Rating (Preferred)
First-Class Medical
Minimum Flight Time:
4,000β5,000 hours total time
2,000 hours turbine
1,000 hours turbine PIC
500 hours multi-engine turbine
International and oceanic experience preferred
Valid passport with ability to travel internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Prior GV / G550 experience
Part 91/135 experience
Advanced CRM / Leadership training
International procedures experience (North Atlantic, Pacific, etc.)
Corporate flight department background
