JOB SUMMARY The Flight Operations Lead oversees daily operations at the University flight school, ensuring efficient workflow and the highest standards of safety and customer service. This role requires experience in flight training with excellent leadership and communication skills to lead our team of dispatchers while ensuring smooth daily execution of all flight operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily flight operations & ensure regulatory/safety compliance
Lead and supervise Dispatchers with guidance & performance evaluations
Assist with ground operations (fueling, towing, GPU) as needed
Coordinate flight schedules, aircraft availability & instructor assignments
Serve as primary contact for operational issues and emergencies
Collaborate with Flight Program Director, Chief Flight Instructor & Maintenance
Monitor operational metrics and implement continuous improvements
Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Conduct initial and recurrent training for Dispatchers & staff
Foster a positive, professional, team-oriented work environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with aircraft, flight training and ground operations
Proven leadership in aviation operations (flight school preferred)
Strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety standards & best practices
Excellent organizational & multitasking skills with attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build & lead a team
Experience using flight scheduling software
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Desirable: Commercial Pilot Certificate
