Assistant Director of Inflight Training and Standards
Position Summary The Assistant Director of Inflight Training and Standards is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating job performance and activities of the Inflight Training, Inflight Instructional Design, and Inflight Standards teams. The Assistant Director oversees these teams to ensure the workforce feels engaged, motivated, productive, and supported, while maintaining compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and Company policies and procedures. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with FAA, TSA, and Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) leaders.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for design and delivery of Inflight Services initial, recurrent and management training programs.
Oversee the design and implementation of Flight Attendant policies and procedures related to safety, service, and regulatory compliance.
Develop comprehensive business plan for the organization and specifically the two primary programs Flight Attendant New Hire and Recurrent that detail the road map for each program.
Partner with other departments to ensure policies, procedures and training are in alignment with regulatory and company policies.
Coach and provide leadership direction, motivation, and supervision of Inflight Training, Instructional Design, and Inflight Standards teams.
Coordinate with Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and other departments to interpret and apply corporate policies and procedures and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) collective bargaining agreement.
Foster diversity, inclusion, belonging and engagement to support the Company’s core values and culture.
Create honest and trusting relationships with Flight Attendants, AFA leaders and other department and regulatory leaders.
Deliver a superior Inflight experience that meets or exceeds internal customer expectations.
Meet all operational goals associated with the Inflight Services department.
Execute daily, weekly, and monthly operational plans.
Handle management of front-line department personnel including working with Talent Management and Employee Relations in the areas of recruitment, retention, termination, training, performance management, and corrective counseling.
Represent Inflight Services in cross-departmental meetings and take ownership of operational functions/projects.
Participate, when necessary, in fact-finding, investigation, and grievance meetings/process.
Develop both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment.
Lead and participate in special projects, as assigned.
Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Specifics Required Qualifications
At Least Five (5) years of leadership experience and success in leading diverse teams.
Expertise in Inflight policies and procedures, attendance control, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Regulations.
Previous experience working with Collective Bargaining Agreement and Labor Relations.
At least three (3) years of classroom instruction or training experience.
Exceptional integrity with impeccable ethics in safety and compliance.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven success driving measurable results to enhance both customer and employee satisfaction.
Track record of working in a productive, safe, and collaborative manner.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Ability to speak/read/write in English.
