The role
As a Pilot for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be flying a state-of-the-art H135 T3 helicopter on day and night Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) missions, providing urgent medical care and transporting patients in emergency situations.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
Effectively conduct day and night HEMS operations for HIOWAA
Meet company and customer Health & Safety responsibilities while adhering to all relevant aviation regulations.
Work a 12-hour shift roster, with four days on followed by four days off, which allows for ample rest and recovery.
Maintain the highest standards of professional expertise and safety throughout the conduct of this challenging role.
This role is full time and based on site at Thruxton Airfield, west of Andover, in Hampshire. The successful candidate will be required to reside within 25 nautical miles or 45 minutes of the Airfield.
Essential experience of the Pilot
Either:
1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
You must also have the following in addition to either of the above two points.
2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience
500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
Fluent English, Driving Licence, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.
Qualifications for the Pilot
Hold an UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR
Full UK Aviation class 1 medical
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
