DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Directly Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Mission of this Position:
The Director of Operations ensures the overall safety and efficiency of the flight department. The Director of Operations is responsible for the performance and supervision of personnel in flight operations and dispatch.
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Overall:
Ensures and verifies that Company flight operations are conducted in accordance with applicable FARs and Company Manuals
Through the Schedules, OCC Manager and designated personnel, the Director of Operations is responsible for regulatory compliance of flight scheduling, flight planning, dispatch/flight release, monitoring, and cancellation of all flights and exercises operational control over flight release
Maintains close liaison with the Director of Maintenance to ascertain aircraft status and release for flight
Oversees the Safety Management System (SMS) program with continuous monitoring seeking continuous safety improvements
Maintains and distributes the Company Operations Manuals and appropriate revisions to required personnel, as applicable
Ensures prompt reporting, filing and follow-up action on required reports to appropriate governmental agencies
Ensures that the proper permits, over-flight, and/or landing authorizations, when required, are obtained and current
Signs for the Company for the issuance and receipt of Operations Specifications
Operational Performance Management:
Promote standardization and consistent enhancement of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)
Identify, analyze, implement, and review areas of process enhancement via standardized debrief procedures
Monitor performance through data-driven tracking and provide solutions, where applicable
Compliance:
Ensures all operations follow and comply with current FAA regulations, airworthiness, and safety standards
Promote and enforce safety practices
Coordinate with Safety and Training departments to provide continuity across organization
Adhere to corporate, federal, state, and local business requirements to ensure compliance and take action, when necessary
Maintain, revise, and makes available TOA library of current aviation publications including all FAA approved manuals
Update (i.e., enters revisions) of office copies of company Manuals including but not limited to:
[Company], LLC General Operations Manual
[Company], LLC Operations Specifications
[Company], LLC Flight Crewmember Aircraft Specific Training Program(s)
[Company], LLC General Training Program
Essential Skill Set:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required; MBA preferred
At least 10 years’ experience in operations or related field, including three years in upper management
Multi-team management experience
