The Manager of Training is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and compliance of training programs for flight crews, cabin crews, and operational staff within a charter airline. This role ensures that all training aligns with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. The Manager of Training works closely with regulatory authorities, internal departments, and external training providers to maintain the highest safety and performance standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage training programs for pilots, flight attendants, dispatchers, and other operational staff.
Ensure all training materials meet regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety standards.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for training functions.
Oversee recurrent training, emergency procedures training, and new hire onboarding programs.
Ensure training programs comply with FAA regulations (e.g., Part 135, Part 121, or other applicable regulations).
Maintain training records, manuals, and certification requirements in accordance with aviation authority guidelines.
Serve as the primary point of contact for FAA audits and inspections related to training.
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and implement necessary training updates.
Recruit, train, and supervise ground instructors.
Provide ongoing support and evaluation to maintain high-quality instruction.
Conduct instructor standardization training and ensure consistency across training programs.
Collaborate with flight operations, safety, and maintenance teams to enhance training effectiveness.
Integrate safety management system (SMS) principles into training programs.
Oversee crew resource management (CRM/TEM) and emergency response training initiatives.
Implement and manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) for training delivery and tracking.
Identify and integrate simulation-based training and e-learning solutions.
Coordinate with vendors for simulator sessions and external training courses as needed.
Requirements And Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Aviation, Education, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in aviation training, with a focus on charter operations preferred.
Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, including Part 121 operations.
Previous experience as a Check Airman, Training Captain, or Flight Instructor is a plus.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in training software, LMS platforms, and aviation training tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and regulatory agencies.
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) preferred or ability to acquire these certificates.
FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or equivalent experience desirable.
Position may require travel to training facilities, regulatory meetings, and company operational bases.
Must be available for flexible working hours, including occasional weekends or evenings.
