[Company] is seeking a Chief Flight Instructor to lead, supervise, and be fully accountable for all flight instruction activities across the organization.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for instructor oversight, training quality, standardization, safety culture, customer service, and regulatory compliance. The Chief Flight Instructor will establish the standards, systems, and culture that define our organization and will play a key role in building and growing a premier flight training operation in Montana.
We are looking for a leader who understands that exceptional flight training begins with exceptional customer service. The Chief Flight Instructor is responsible for ensuring that every student receives a professional, organized, and positive training experience from enrollment through checkride completion.
This position is not intended to be a time-building role. It is intended for an experienced instructor who wants to help build and lead a long-term training organization.
Responsibilities
Serve as the senior instructional authority for the flight school
Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate all flight instructors
Establish and maintain training standards, SOPs, and instructional consistency
Build and maintain a customer-focused training culture throughout the instructor team
Ensure instructors understand student goals and consistently meet or exceed student expectations
Oversee instructor onboarding, qualification, recurrent training, and standardization
Monitor student progress, syllabus adherence, and training quality
Oversee stage checks, end-of-course evaluations, and instructor proficiency checks
Maintain accurate training records, endorsements, and documentation
Ensure training operations comply with applicable FAA regulations
Coordinate with scheduling, operations, and maintenance to support safe and efficient training flow
Balance instructor workload, aircraft availability, and student demand
Actively instruct as needed while leading the instructional department
Required Qualifications
FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
FAA Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII)
FAA Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
Demonstrated leadership experience in a flight training environment such as Chief Instructor, Assistant Chief Instructor, Check Instructor, Standardization Instructor, or similar role
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
Proven commitment to safety, professionalism, and instructional excellence
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Part 61 and/or Part 141 experience
Piper Archer experience
Piper Seminole experience
Experience building or managing instructor teams
Mountain flying and high-density-altitude experience
Compensation
Base Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 annually
