Chief Pilot – Part 135 Operations

[Company] is seeking a highly experienced Chief Pilot for to lead a Part 135 flight operation for one of our clients. This FAA-mandated leadership role oversees pilot standards, training, and operational safety across a mixed fleet, including Embraer 135, Legacy 600, and Gulfstream IV-SP.
This position serves as the primary deputy to the Director of Operations and acts as a key liaison with the FAA. The ideal candidate is both an accomplished aviator and a strategic people leader, capable of stepping into the Director of Operations role when required.
Key Responsibilities
• Direct supervision and operational control of all pilots across E135, Legacy 600, and G-IV fleets
AOC Management
• Support the Director of Operations in managing the Air Operator Certificate (AOC)
• Ensure full compliance with FAA regulations and company GOM
Regulatory Liaison
• Primary contact with FAA POI for flight operations, pilot qualifications, and compliance
• Lead Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation
• Maintain elite safety and reliability standards
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate flight crews
• Build a culture of professionalism, accountability, and passion
Succession Readiness
• Maintain qualifications and operational knowledge to assume DO duties if required
• Oversee worldwide operations across varying climates and international environments
Minimum Requirements
Flight Experience
• FAA ATP License
• Current or previous G-IV (or equivalent large-cabin) type rating
• 5,000+ Total Time
• 3,000+ Turbojet
• 2,000+ PIC
Regulatory Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years Part 135/121 PIC experience within the last 6 years
• Proven team leadership and AOC administration experience
• Strong history working with FAA.
• Excellent communication and high-stakes decision-making ability
• Valid First Class Medical
• Valid Passport (unrestricted international travel)
• TSA CHRC clearance
• DOT drug & alcohol compliance (14 CFR Part 120 / 49 CFR Part 40)
