Maine Aviation Aircraft Charter, LLC, (dba MAC Jet Charter), a division of [Company], is hiring a Chief Pilot based at our headquarters at the Portland International Jetport (PWM) in South Portland, Maine. Maine Aviation conducts Part 135 on-demand charter and Part 91 aircraft management operations for a fleet of 13 jet aircraft. Our flight operations entail both domestic and international assignments.
The Chief Pilot at times has full operational control and is responsible to the Director of Operations. The Chief Pilot directs, leads, and oversees the performance of the Flight Crew Department by creating policy, process, and procedure. The Chief Pilot shall meet the requirements under 14 CFR 119.71 and will be responsible for:
Flight crew staffing, hiring, and training.
The designation of flight crews.
Oversight of-
The scheduling of each pilot for the competency check required by FAR 135.293
The scheduling of each Pilot in Command for the instrument proficiency check required by FAR 135.297
The scheduling of each Pilot in Command for the line check required by FAR 135.299
Disseminating aircraft and pilot information (aircraft checklists, aircraft charter folder, current publications).
Submitting to the FAA all required reports.
Auditing of Part 142 training facilities.
Development (in conjunction with training centers) and distribution of SOP manuals for new aircraft.
Monitor crew performance and evaluate potential for advancement.
Assist with the training of new hire and upgrading crewmembers.
Regulatory Compliance
Act as a liaison to:

In addition, the Chief Pilot
Must be qualified to serve as pilot in command in at least one aircraft used in the operating certificate per FAR 119.71(c).
Maintain 135 currency on a specified company aircraft type and fly 135 flights as required.
Will need to maintain Company Check Airman status for 293 and 299 checks.
May assume determinations of crew member qualification and eligibility in the absence of the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
Prior Chief Pilot or Operations experience preferred
Four-year College degree preferred
ATP certificate with appropriate ratings to serve as Pilot-in-Command on at least one aircraft on the Maine Aviation Aircraft Charter, LLC Air Carrier Certificate. (Type rating will be provided if needed)
FAA First Class Medical
Extensive flight experience; domestic and international
Solid understanding of the regulatory requirements of a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate holder as described in FARs Parts 1, 61, 91, 119, and 135.
Experience in Operations and Training
Must demonstrate strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
Must be capable of dealing with employee personnel issues with discretion, sensitivity, and objectiveness.
Must be able to make decisions effectively under pressure, handle conflict, and resolve problems.
The Chief Pilot must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Southern Maine.
