True North is a program that aims to support aviation students at affiliated schools. The program focuses on making substantial investments in the next generation of aviation leaders through strategic outreach with universities. We currently work with Delaware State University (DSU), University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and California Baptist University (CBU).
Program Benefits:
Financial Assistance: [Company] will provide post-instrument funds in the amount of $12,500, and Alaska Airlines will provide the remainder of the funding for flight lab fees up to $42,500.
Career Path: A clear route to certification and employment as a Pilot with [Company] and Alaska Airlines upon completion of the program.
To be offered a conditional position with Alaska Airlines (when the time arises, in order of Horizon Seniority Number), a Pilot must also satisfy the minimum qualifications for the First Officer at Alaska Airlines position. The pilot does not need to interview at Alaska Airlines, as it is part of the True North program.
Key Duties:
Join [Company] and be placed on the Pathway list.
Meet all program requirements.
Reach the top of the seniority list.
Opportunity to transition to Alaska Airlines through the Pathway Program once requirements and seniority are met.
Commit to a minimum of 5 years of employment with [Company] and Alaska Airlines following program completion.
Program Specific Requirements
Required
Have successfully completed their private pilot license
Must hold a 1st Class Medical
Be enrolled in the aviation program at either DSU, UMES and CBU
Must be in good standing with their University
Entry into the program requires that the student agrees to a release of records allowing [Company] and Alaska Airlines full access to the following records:
Training Records
Disciplinary Records
Attendance Records
Any other records the contain necessary and relevant information for the True North program
High school diploma or equivalent.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
