Overview
The Chief Pilot will serve as a key member of the Pilot Operations department and will report directly to the Head of Pacific Fleet Aviation (PFA). The incumbent will have as their core responsibility, the training and management of a department of aerial survey pilots. The successful candidate will promote the safe operation of a fleet of fixed-wing aerial survey aircraft while driving performance efficiency.
The Chief Pilot will ensure operations are consistent with the Federal Aviation Regulations and the standards applicable to Part 91 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the Flight Operations Manual (FOM), and any written conditions imposed on the company on the behalf of the FAA. The role will be culpable for department activities including managing daily flight activities, initial and recurrent training, completion of training records, daily management of the pilot group and conducting education seminars that promote safety with continued evolution and improvement.
The Chief Pilot will work directly with the Pilot Operations staff and the Pilot group to optimize flight time and improve capture efficiencies. The Chief Pilot will conduct and oversee field proficiency checks and be amenable to limited Line Pilot duties coverage as needed. The Chief Pilot will work to refine and tailor the FOM to PFA and EV operations. They will also work closely with Aviation Safety to address safety concerns.
This is a full-time role with a base salary of $140,000-$160,000 and a bonus potential of 12.5%
Responsibilities
Maintains personal proficiency and trains Pilots on both aircraft & camera systems with troubleshooting techniques.
Serves as the lead trainer/performance evaluator for all Line Pilots.
Promotes a culture of safety by actively using and promoting the use of the SMS and Safety program.
Participates in daily operations meetings. Directs and oversees daily pilot assignments.
Provides initial training and standardization for Line pilot qualifications and Train the Trainer for initial flight instruction, Critical Functional Check Flight (CFCF) IOE and Turbo training.
Provides support for departmental improvement initiatives.
Evolves, implements, and maintains company policies, operational standards, and safety procedures.
Develops and enhances pilot training & LMS courses.
Maintains records of licenses, certificates, ratings, training, and qualifications of all line pilots.
Conducts and supervises proficiency checks of line pilots.
Coaches and helps develop airmanship, professional standards, and aeronautical decision-making skills of line pilots.
Defines and implements measures to optimize KPIs for the Pilot Operations department.
Performs administrative tasks directly related to line pilots.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and after hours as necessary.
Travel up to 40% of the time (domestic).

Qualifications
Current CPL.
Current CFI, MEI ratings.
Current Class 1 or 2 Medical.
Minimum 2500 hours Total Time.
Minimum 2000 hours PIC.
Minimum 500 hours Multi-Engine (PIC).
Minimum 1000 hours dual given, 250 hours in multi-engine dual given.
Minimum 500 hours cross-county.
Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
Must be familiar with Part 91 operating guidelines.
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Must be able to work within the Eastern time zone.
Valid U.S. passport.
Valid Driver’s license.
English proficient.
Preferred Experience:
Current ATP.
Current CFII.
3000 hours Total Time.
1000 hours Multi-Engine (PIC).
Previous Chief Pilot experience.
Aerial survey or aerial imaging operational experience.
College degree or equivalent experience.
Robust leadership and management experience.
Part 135 experience.
Mountain flying experience.
Clear written and verbal communications skills.
Robust technical skills.
Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly.
Well-organized, dependable, and self-sufficient.
Experience with aerial survey or photography flying.
Experience flying Piper Aztec.
Manual writing experience.
Remote work environment, skills, and dedicated workspace.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Physical Requirements:
Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, and reach.
Ability to reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
Will need to comfortably travel long and short distances.
