Role Summary
The Director of Cabin Safety at [Company] spearheads key safety initiatives in close collaboration with the Inflight division. This role is responsible for shaping and executing safety strategies for the inflight division, ensuring compliance with FAA, DOT, and other industry standards, and fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties
Strategic Leadership: Define and implement long-term goals, strategy, and planning for the Cabin Safety team.
Talent Development: Drive performance management and provide ongoing feedback to cultivate strategic thinking, talent growth, and succession planning.
Team Oversight: Lead and manage the Cabin Safety team, including budgeting and scheduling.
Safety Program Management: Develop and oversee safety programs such as ASAP (Aviation Safety Action Program) and SMS (Safety Management System).
Incident Investigation: Serve as the primary investigator for Inflight safety incidents, including operational anomalies, emergency response, and close-call assessments.
Policy Development: Create and update comprehensive safety policies to align with regulatory and operational needs.
Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with internal departments and external agencies to address safety and security matters.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement enhancements in safety protocols and operational processes.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate operational risks using frontline team insights.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report safety program effectiveness, providing actionable feedback.
Innovation & Improvement: Partner with Inflight and Safety Assurance teams to develop risk-based tools and techniques that enhance operational programs, processes, and controls.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required:
8 years of experience in Safety or Inflight operations (combined experience acceptable).
5 years of leadership experience, including at least 2 years of direct people management.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of a degree.
Deep understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards.
Strong ability to grasp complex airline operational frameworks.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to influence others and build consensus.
Capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Creative problem-solving skills to enhance safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Extensive experience in aviation safety and security.
Proven expertise in risk assessment and strategic response planning.

Salary Range
$167,050 - $258,950 / year
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
