Role Objective:
The primary responsibility of the Director of Operations is the oversight of flight operations from a regulatory standpoint. The ideal candidate is a skilled pilot with managerial experience in the day-to-day operational demands of a Part 135 organization. This role will focus on the company compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations, while balancing the business and operational needs of the company.
The Director of Operations ensures all company flight operations are carried out, in a responsible manner, with the highest regard for safety and compliance with the GOM and GMM. They will implement best practices, efficient systems, and processes in accordance with the company values and financial targets. This position has the authority to direct all operational functions from a regulatory standpoint. The Chief Pilot and all regulatory personnel (Assistant Director of Operations, Assistant Chief Pilot, and all Pilots) report to and are accountable to the Director of Operations in all matters pertaining to CFR Part 135 operations.
Core Objectives:
Ensuring that all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Operational Specifications, and Company policies.
Maintain a strong working relationship with the FAA Certificate Holding District Office. Communicates with the FAA Flight Standards District Office and the National Transportation Safety Board as necessary. Files all required reports and documents, thoroughly and timely.
Coordinating with the Director of Maintenance, Chief Pilot, Director of Sales, and other internal departments regarding policies and procedures to ensure all missions are performing safely and in compliance with GOM and GMM.
Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance the timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies.
Performs as flight crewmember when needed and check pilot in support of account management.
Essential Job Tasks:
Reporting to the CEO to ensure all business needs are adequately addressed.
Direct ownership of the company General Operations Manual (GOM).
Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration approved drug and alcohol programs.
Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training of company personnel according to company and operational requirements.
Accountable to facilitate 3rd party audits including, Wyvern, Argus, and ISBAO. Ensuring that all data for crew and certificate is up to date in the necessary platforms.
Monitor and facilitate operational growth by focusing efforts on aircraft additions to Part 135 certificate.
Participate in indoctrination training for new hires and work with the team internally, and the FAA to establish appropriate flight standards, develop training curriculum, etc.
Has authority to act for the Certificate Holder, including the signing of FAA correspondence and Operational Specifications.
Devises revisions to the company manuals as needed, submits the proposed revisions to the FSDO, receives confirmation from the FSDO that the revisions are acceptable, and then distributes those revision to all manual holders.
Manages HAZMAT - WILL NOT Carry Program
Manages the Operations portions of the RVSM program.
Travel:
Travel to Teterboro, Opa-Locka, Stuart, FL and other [Company] satellite bases occasionally required.
Required Education/Experience:
Have at least 3-5 years of supervisory or managerial experience within the last 10 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under Part 135.
Currently type rated in either GIV-SP, GV, Cessna Citation, Latitude, or Longitude is preferred
University degree in Aviation or Business is preferred.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed within an office environment at the company office in Orlando, Florida with standard office equipment.
Work will also need to be performed on the road, as the demands of this role require the occasional flying or meeting with crew.
