Responsibilities:
Performs Captain duties in assigned airplane in compliance with Flight Operation Manual & other duties as may be assigned by Chief Pilot or Fleet Captain.
Responsible for complete knowledge of operating procedures in assigned airplane.
Conducts interior and pre-flight inspections to ensure aircraft air-worthiness, to include aircraft log, time on engines, time on aircraft and maintenance work performed.
Mentors new First Officer in his assigned airplane to help him improve and develop his skills.
Checks personally, or with the First Officer, to ensure all manifests and documents are properly completed, passengers are accounted for and cargo is loaded and secured for the flight.
Checks all instruments, engines and communications equipment prior to the flight.
Obtains flight clearance and clears with Customs and Immigration officials.
Checks weather reports and ensures safe weather conditions for the route, cancelling flight if safe conditions do not exist.
Makes a final check after engines are started and requests/obtains clearance for take-off.
Pilots the aircraft in accordance with established and well recognized airman procedures and ICAO/GACA/FAA Rules & Regulations.
Provides technical supervision to the First Officer to ensure functions are performed in accordance with established procedures i.e. Manifests, trip reports, flight log.
Maintains continuous radio communications with appropriate control facilities, making required position and weather reports while receiving changes/amendments to the flight plan and requesting/receiving landing clearance.
Checks the safety and comfort of the passengers and ensures that the aircraft is being operated in compliance with established FAA, Company and Department Operating and Safety Regulations.
Completes all assigned courses as required by the Training Unit or Fleet Captain.
Clears through Customs & Immigration and secures the aircraft.
Ensures that cargo is released and passengers are properly disembarked from the aircraft, while keeping proper record entries.
Arranges/Directs the refueling, servicing and security of aircraft while away from home base.
Education: Bachelor in Engineering or Technical Discipline
Knowledge and Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 08
