[Company] flies people, freight, mail, and medical transport between Knox County and the islands of Penobscot Bay. Our line pilots fly single-engine Cessna 206s and 207s into short, rugged island strips, several times a day, in real Maine weather. This is high-frequency, hands-on VFR flying with many takeoffs and landings, tight turnarounds, and direct contact with the island communities we serve. If you want to build meaningful PIC time doing flying that actually matters to the people on the other end, this is it.

What you'll do

• Fly on-demand Part 135 passenger, cargo, and mail runs to Vinalhaven, North Haven, Matinicus, and other destinations

• Load and secure freight and baggage, and compute weight and balance for every leg

• Make sound go/no-go weather decisions and operate safely within VFR minimums and company OpSpecs

• Conduct preflight inspections and handle light servicing (fueling, securing aircraft)

• Assist passengers, including elderly island residents and families, and represent PIA professionally on the ramp and in the community

• Support emergency medical transport flights when called

• Complete required logs, manifests, and dispatch paperwork accurately

Minimum qualifications

• Commercial Pilot Certificate, Airplane Single-Engine Land

• Second-Class (or higher) FAA Medical Certificate

• Valid driver's license

• 500 hours total time

• Must meet 14 CFR 135.243 requirements for the operations flown

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior Part 135 experience

• Cessna 206/207 or comparable high-wing single time

• Short-field, unimproved-strip, or backcountry experience

• Instrument rating

• Comfort with cold-weather and coastal operations

• Familiarity with Maine and the Penobscot Bay region

Good judgment, a genuinely conservative approach to weather and loading, physical ability to handle freight, and the temperament to do the same island run twenty times and treat the twentieth passenger as well as the first.
