About the Company:
Aerowork is a 100% owned subsidiary of [Company] Ltd and is engaged in aerial application of fertilisers as an essential service for hill country farming. Our aircraft are fitted with GPS technology for accurate placement of fertiliser enabling our customers to maximise farm productivity whilst reducing the environmental impact.
The company currently has 11 operational aircraft supported by more than 35 Loader trucks capable of loading and spreading different fertilizer types across different regions in NZ. A complete Engineering department maintains aircraft and manufactures specialised aircraft parts.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for the aerial top-dressing for our customers in the Wairarapa region, with support from other Aerowork flight teams and bases. Working closely with a skilled and motivated ground support team, you'll have a passion for safety as well as the agricultural aviation industry.
The key aspects of this role involve safe operation of the aircraft operating from a variety of typical farming country and remote airstrips of varying length, slope and challenges, ensuring clients are serviced to company standards, and administrative tasks are completed accurately and within agreed timeframes.
The hours for this role are full time but variable and weather dependant, and weekend work will be required so flexibility is essential. Travel to assist with the workload at other bases might also be required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and role‑model a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture, complying with all legislative and company safety requirements.
Operate aircraft safely and professionally, ensuring adherence to all operational procedures, maintenance expectations, and fatigue‑management requirements.
Deliver high‑quality aerial application services, managing client expectations, communicating proactively, and ensuring all jobs meet agreed company service standards.
Maintain accurate administrative records including flight logs, job documentation, timesheets, and aircraft statistics within required timeframes.
Communicate regularly with farming customers for logistics of current work but also for promoting Aerowork
Build positive and effective working relationships across the Aerowork team, supporting training and fostering a collaborative environment.
Maintain an excellent relationship with Aerowork Engineering as the main party maintaining the aircraft you fly, ensuring upfront communications of aircraft technical state, aircraft cleanliness and support to any troubleshooting steps as and when they arise.
Uphold Civil Aviation Authority regulations and company operating manuals in all aspects of work.
About You:
As a team player you will be able to build a close relationship with the loader driving team, with the pilot group and with the wider Aerowork team.
You will have a safety-first approach in all aspects of flying (preparing, actioning and post action learning). You will contribute to a just culture – no blame environment reporting safety incidents and hazards as and when they occur
You will have strong communication skills and be able to easily build rapport with farming customers, other contracted services (e.g. transport) and [Company] salespeople.
You will be resilient and flexible to work any time as dictated by weather conditions, aircraft availability and when customer orders are required to be completed.
Ideal Skills & Experience:
A NZ CPL license for fixed wing
NZ Agricultural rating Grade 1 Topdressing
Cresco experience preferred
A valid medical certificate
Understanding of and exposure to Civil Aviation Authority requirements
Excellent attention to Health & Safety
A positive, responsible, can-do attitude
