The Assistant Chief Pilot supports the Chief Pilot in the leadership, oversight, and operational management of the company’s pilot workforce. This role serves as a key operational leader within Flight Operations and helps ensure regulatory compliance, pilot standardization, training integrity, and day-to-day operational excellence under 14 CFR Part 135, Part 91, company Operations Specifications, and the General Operations Manual (GOM).
The Assistant Chief Pilot maintains active line flying responsibilities and serves as a mentor, operational resource, and culture carrier for the pilot team while supporting safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations across the Hawker fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
Support the Chief Pilot in managing pilot operations and departmental standards.
Ensure all flight operations, procedures, and personnel adhere to 14 CFR Part 135 regulations, company Operations Specifications, and the General Operations Manual (GOM).
Assist in maintaining operational control in coordination with Dispatch and Maintenance.
Support Hawker fleet flight mission planning, including evaluation of weather, weight and balance, aircraft performance, and aircraft availability.
Work closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure Hawker fleet aircraft remain airworthy, properly equipped, and available for scheduled operations.
Assist with the management of pilot scheduling, crew assignments, rotations, and coverage for vacancies to maintain operational efficiency.
Serve as a resource for pilots regarding procedures, compliance, and operational decision-making.
Assist with dissemination of critical operational information to flight crews, including NOTAMs, route changes, and updated company policies.
Fill in on the flight schedule as needed.
Conduct Initial Operating Experience (IOE) flights when qualified and designated.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Assist in maintaining compliance with FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 135 and Part 91 operations.
Support oversight of pilot currency, qualification tracking, and regulatory training compliance.
Assist with maintaining accurate records for pilot qualifications, training, flight operations, and incident reports.
Ensure documentation, training records, and pilot files remain accurate, current, and audit-ready.
Promote safety data integrity and participation in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
Training & Standardization
Support initial and recurrent training oversight.
Assist in the design and implementation of Hawker fleet pilot training programs, including initial, recurrent, and specialized training to ensure crews meet regulatory and company standards.
Ensure Hawker fleet pilots remain current, qualified, and proficient through oversight of training and checking requirements.
Reinforce aircraft operating standards and standardization initiatives specific to the Hawker platform.
Provide mentorship and developmental coaching to pilots.
Support training program improvements in alignment with company growth and fleet expansion.
The Assistant Chief Pilot must successfully complete Standards Captain and Line Check Pilot training within six (6) months of assuming the ACP role. Upon successful completion and designation, the ACP will perform duties associated with these roles to support pilot training, operational oversight, and Hawker fleet standardization.
Talent & Team Development
Participate in pilot recruitment and candidate evaluation.
Assist with pilot onboarding and integration into the Premier culture.
Oversee, mentor, and evaluate Hawker fleet pilot performance.
Support career path discussions and pilot progression planning.
Promote professionalism, accountability, and a mission-focused team culture.
Assist with conflict resolution and personnel matters within the pilot group.
Leadership Collaboration
Work closely with the Chief Pilot, Director of Operations, and Director of Safety on departmental initiatives.
Collaborate with the Director of Safety to support implementation and monitoring of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), including risk assessments and hazard reporting initiatives.
Participate in leadership meetings and cross-functional projects as assigned.
Support crew scheduling coordination in partnership with the Director of Operations and Operations team to maintain operational coverage.
Requirements
Must meet eligibility requirements under 14 CFR Part 119.69 (or capable of meeting them as experience progresses).
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
First Class FAA Medical Certificate
6,000+ hours total time preferred
2,500+ hours PIC preferred
3+ years Part 135 corporate aviation experience
Prior leadership, training, or check airman experience preferred
No accidents, incidents, violations, or DUI/DWI
Type rating in Hawker 800XP aircraft preferred
Familiarity with Hawker 800XP avionics and aircraft systems preferred
Ability to read, write, and communicate proficiently in English
Strong leadership presence with a mission-minded mentality
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as operationally required
