Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway Company is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Aviation Operation Manager position based in Van Nuys CA. This position is responsible for the daily operation of a complex flight department to ensure safety, security, comfort and exemplary service for all passengers and employees. Under the direction of the Chief Pilot, the Manager, Aviation Operation leads a team of experienced aviation colleagues including pilots, maintenance technicians, flight attendants and scheduling professionals. As a flying member of the team, the Manager, Aviation Operations is responsible for the ensuring compliance with all international, federal, state regulations and all company policies and practices.

Position Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of management experience with a large corporate flight department flying internationally.
Must have large cabin, corporate aircraft international flying experience.
Minimum of 5+ years of mananging a multi-aircraft flight department with direct supervisory authority with pilots, maintenance technicians and flight attendants.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manages all functions of the flight department to the highest level of safety. Maintains a high degree of knowledge of and ensures that all employees comply with Federal Air Regulations (FARs), Operations Specifications (Ops Specs), EJM company policies, procedures and processes outlined in the General Operations & Maintenance Manual (GOMM) and other organizational manuals.
Partners with EJM functional groups, including but not limited to Flight Operations, Owner Services, Maintenance, Charter Services, Training, Human Resources and Finance to ensure contractual agreements and owner satisfaction are consistently met.
Collaborates with the Chief Pilot to manage employee staffing, performance and development facilitates regular communication, provides ongoing coaching and feedback. Demonstrates leadership that embodies the spirit of teamwork between flight crew members, maintenance and scheduling/support staff that addresses the needs of the customer, organization and team.
Develops crew schedules, ensuring training, vacations and any other required time off is scheduled and documented. Ensures fair-sharing of the workload over the course of the year. Demonstrates compliance with FAR Part 135 required rest periods, if applicable.
Reviews invoices for accuracy prior to them being submitted to the client. Ensures compliant and timely submission of expense reporting by the team.
Develops written standard operating procedures (SOPs), specific to their respective flight department in conjunction with EJM leadership. Works to standardize the operations of the flight department and strives for continuous improvement. Advises and reports any anomalies to management.
Manages department budgets. Monitors and collaborates on any applicable service contracts or warranties.
Stays current on aviation trends and regulations.
Participates on the flying schedule
Interacts directly with the client when needed, acting as a trusted advisor. Must represent the department and Executive Jet Management in a highly professional manner. Ensures that customer needs are met in a safe, friendly and comfortable manner.
Bachelor\'s in Business Administration or Aviation Management

Minimum Requirements
Total flight time: 5,000 hours
Type rating in large cabin corporate aircraft
International flight experience
Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
PIC MEL: 500 hours
Instrument: 300 hours
Jet: 750 hours
Part 135 / charter management experience required
Exceptional people and organizational skills; past experience working in a matrixed organization
Ability to travel 40% of the time
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
