Description: Responsible for the design, development, implementation and execution of all related activities associated with executive air transportation. Provides flight, in-flight, maintenance and dispatch services in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), International Standards- Business Aviation Operations (IS-BAO) and associated Hewlett-Packard Company guidelines. Consults on corporate aviation operations, safety practices, ground transportation services and global travel restrictions. Identifies emerging technology applications and recommends transportation solutions that support company business strategies and desired operational efficiencies. Works across corporate functions to recommend aircraft acquisition/disposition strategies, business continuity practices and data collection solutions that meet all internal customer requirements. Provides support and subject matter expertise for recruiting, internal hiring, vendor selection and contractor requirements in execution of business transportation strategies for the overall enterprise.

Responsibilities

Oversees the design and implementation of innovative global aviation programs in a specialized area (e.g., safety, training, international operations); monitors the performance of programs, ensures the appropriate resources exist to support the program (e.g., documentation, training).
Leads international flights for assigned aircraft as the pilot-in-command; responsible for overseeing all of the operational decisions in international operations.
Consults on planning of highly complex international flights to ensure the company’s travel needs are met; executes the dispatch/scheduling of assigned flight (e.g., coordinates aircraft dispatch, servicing, and in-flight crew assignments).
Mentors others and ensures that safety and maintenance comply with all applicable company standard operating procedures and FAA regulations (e.g., conducts all pre- and post-flight inspections); obtains necessary resources when traveling to countries that lack the appropriate support.
Consults and advises with Chief of Maintenance and Chief Pilot on highly complex priority projects requiring cross-functional and international flight, dispatch, and maintenance support.
Oversees the benchmarking of industry best practices and cost modeling for international maintenance, dispatch and related support services.
Leads operational training and may supervise lower- level individual contributors and non-exempt staff (e.g., emergency procedures, etc.).
Mentors others and ensures aircraft is in compliance with international regulations.
Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the Chief Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot or Director of Aviation.

Education and Experience

Typically 10+ years of international piloting experience, with time spent as a corporate pilot with service to a diverse range of hubs (e.g., intermediary and minor hubs); extensive flight experience in turbine aircraft required.
6,000 hours total flight time, including 4,000 hours multi-engine jet required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Associates degree or equivalent FAR Part 91 flight operations experience (as determined by the Chief Pilot) required
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate and type rating on each Company aircraft assigned.
FAA First Class Medical Certificate required.
Airframe and Power Plant Certificate preferred, or have and completed equivalent level of manufacturer training on assigned aircraft.
Thorough familiarity with FAA FAR Part 91 operations and ICAO Annexes required.
Extensive flight experience in turbine aircraft required.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge, understanding and appreciation for department Safety Management System, including Risk Analysis and Mitigation, Human Factors and Accident/Incident Prevention.
Highly proficient of aircraft dispatch and scheduling required, including mobile technology applications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, iPad and related software applications.
Excellent communication and people management skills required.
Broad knowledge of all functions related to aircraft operations required.
Excellent project management and supervisory skills required.

Impact/Scope

Pilots international routes.
Interfaces with CEOs and high ranking executives in HPE and other companies, as well as HPE’s customers on occasion.
Direct report to the Chief Pilot.
